What Is The Difference Between Dole Whip At Disneyland And Disney World

Posted: February 22, 2017

Just as the same attractions (Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain) are slightly different at Disneyland and Disney World, the same holds true for the cult fan favorite Dole Whip. Having recently tried both, I can attest to the subtle distinctions, both positive and negative. Which one is cheaper? Which one tastes better? While I'd like to say they are equal in every way, here's what you should know about both. Where to Find It At Disneyland, Dole Whip is found at one spot only: Tiki Juice Bar in Adventureland. At Disney World, you can get your Dole Whip fix at three locations. First

Steel Is Landing In The Star Wars Land Project

Posted: February 22, 2017

Those aren't droids, they're tall construction cranes above the treeline at Disneyland. The cranes were putting up structural steel as the buildings for "Star Wars" land started taking shape in the northwest section of the theme park. Related to that, the rock work that will line the new route for the Disneyland Railroad and the Rivers of America was getting new colors, so the rocks will not just be concrete gray when that area opens up this summer. At the south end of the Rivers of America, the masts have returned to the Sailing Ship Columbia, and the structures that are the main

Everything We Know About Star Wars Themed Land

Posted: February 22, 2017

When Disney purchased Lucasfilm in 2012, I was excited about the prospect of more Star Wars films, obviously, but I couldn't stop thinking about what the acquisition meant for Disney Parks. Star Wars already had a presence in the parks with Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, Jedi Training Academy, and special events, but oh, the potential-especially after seeing the level of immersion Imagineering nailed with Cars Land at Disney's California Adventure. My dreams about more Star Wars at Disney parks came true at D23 Expo in 2015 when Disney CEO Bob Iger announced Star Wars-themed lands

After Latest Ticket Price Increase Is Disneyland Still A Good Value

Posted: February 22, 2017

So Disneyland raised its prices again, and many fans are upset about it. After watching the Cubs win the World Series and California get enough rain to pull the state from a drought, it's reassuring to see that some constants remain in our world. This year's price increases weren't as steep as in years past. The biggest jump, by percentage, was for parking, which went up from $18 to $20 a day - an 11 percent increase. One-day tickets went up $2 to $5, depending upon the time of year you visit. Multi-day tickets went up between $4 and $20, depending on the number of days you visit and whether you want the Park Hopper option or not. Annual passes went up $10 to $20, except for the highest-priced Signature and Signature Plus passes, whose prices remain unchanged from when they were introduced in October 2015. And Disney kept the monthly payment option for local annual pass holders, meaning that many fans in the Southern California won't see their monthly payment to go to

7 People Treated 8 Cars Burn In Disneyland Parking Fire

Posted: February 22, 2017

A fire broke out in Disneyland's main parking structure that burned eight cars and caused seven people to be treated for smoke inhalation, authorities said. No foul play was suspected but authorities haven't given a cause for the Monday blaze at the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure. Four cars were destroyed and four more had major damage from the fire, which brought losses estimated at $180,000, the Anaheim Police Department said. Thousands of cars are tightly packed into the structure daily. Seven Disney employees were treated for smoke inhalation, four of whom were taken to hospitals. None of the injuries was life-threatening, Anaheim fire Sgt. Daron Wyatt said. Gray smoke could be seen pouring out of the structure when the blaze was first reported at about 5 p.m. It was extinguished about 30 minutes later. Hundreds of park visitors and employees were stuck outside the structure unable to get to their cars until the evacuation and shutdown ended after about two

Price To Visit Disneyland And California Adventure Is Going Up

Posted: February 21, 2017

The price to visit Disneyland and Disney California Adventure - for either a day or with a year's pass - is going up again. Effective Sunday, it will cost $97 to go to one of the parks on Value days, the lowest-priced days of the year, up $2. A visit on a Regular day will be $110, while a Peak day will cost $124, both up $5. Tickets are more on days when demand would be higher. Parking is going to $20 from $18. Since 2000, a single-day admission price to Disneyland has tripled on Peak days, with ticket prices going up at least once a year since 2002. "Our pricing provides guests a range of options that allow us to better manage demand to maximize the guest experience and is reflective of the distinctly Disney offerings at all of our parks," said Suzi Brown, a Disneyland spokeswoman. Reaction to the announcement was swift on Saturday. "Four hundred dollars for a family of 3 to get into the gate (on peak days)," said Tony Diamante, 57, of Temecula. "I

Fire In Disneyland Parking Structure Burns 8 Cars Injures 7 People And Prompts Evacuations

Posted: February 21, 2017

At least eight cars caught fire at a Disneyland parking structure Monday night, injuring park staffers, prompting some evacuations and causing nearly $180,000 in damage, authorities said. During the blaze, seven Disney employees suffered minor injuries from smoke inhalation, four of whom were taken to the hospital, said Sgt. Daron Wyatt, a spokesman for the Anaheim Police Department. No foul play is suspected, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. The fire was reported just before 4:40 p.m. on the second floor of the Mickey & Friends parking garage, a six-level structure off Disneyland Drive near the northwest corner of Disneyland Park, Wyatt said. The parking structure has floors named after Disney characters and provides about 10,000 parking spaces. By 5:35 p.m., the fire was extinguished. Four cars were destroyed and another four cars had major damage. A few other vehicles had minor damage, police said. Photos shared on social media showed

Disneyland Just Changed Their Ticket Prices And You Are Not Going To Be Happy About It

Posted: February 21, 2017

Definitively proving that we live in a cruel world, Disneyland just upped their ticket prices. As of yesterday, tickets for each tier of the park's newish seasonal pricing system are as follows: * $97 for value days (up from $95) * $110 for regular days (up from $105) * $124 for peak days (up from $119) Pricing for certain annual passes was also adjusted: * $339 for Southern California Select Passport (up from $329) * $469 for the Southern California Passport (up from $459) * $619 for the Deluxe Pass (up from $599) Granted, most of these increases are incremental, but I think we can all see what's going on here. This has to be a classic boiling-frog-type-situation where they're easing us into the inevitable price hikes that will coincide with the unveiling of Star Wars Land (for which we now have a opening date). According to a statement, the increases are simply a case of supply and demand. "Our pricing provides guests a range of options that

Teen Apprentice Who Painted Disneyland In 1955

Posted: February 21, 2017

Gary McLearn, 78, of Lake Havasu City, was a union painter's apprentice who helped prepare Disneyland's Main Street for the grand opening in July 1955. It was his junior year of high school in 1955, McLearn was 17 years old. A friend of the family was employed at the under-construction Disneyland, in Anaheim, Calif. It was a connection that landed McLearn a three-month apprentice painter's job. "I did a lot of sanding and cleaning brushes," McLearn said of his work at the happiest place on earth. "It was the union so it was very tight on who did what. We started on Main Street, went
