Not long ago, the Disneyland mobile app showed that the popular attraction the Haunted Mansion would be closed from August 16 until September 2. There was speculation that that closure signaled that Haunted Mansion Holiday would return, though nothing could be confirmed. Well, that has changed, and we now have confirmation that The Nightmare Before Christmas overlay is exactly why the ride closure is happening!

While the Disneyland website still does not state that the Halloween Town overlay will happen, the Disneyland mobile app does. Haunted Mansion Holiday now appears under the Haunted Mansion on the list of refurbishments.

If you have not been able to ride the Haunted Mansion during its holiday overlay, here is how Jack and his friends have wrecked the halls according to the Disneyland website:

Pumpkin King Jack Skellington has been busy decorating the Haunted Mansion with frightfully festive touches inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Experience some of your favorite sights, special seasonal surprises—and scare-aracters from the movie. Sally, Oogie Boogie and other Nightmare nasties will be on hand to wish you “Season’s Screamings!”

Changing the Haunted Mansion into Haunted Mansion Holiday is just one more step Disneyland is taking towards the normalcy that existed prior to the pandemic. The temporary retheme used to happen every year, but it was uncertain how Disneyland would be handling spooky season this year. Now, we know that at least one aspect of Halloween will return!

Haunted Mansion Holiday, according to the Disneyland mobile app, is scheduled to open on September 3. Typically, the overlay remains in place through the entire holiday season, closing down to be returned to its normal state in early/mid-January. Changing Haunted Mansion Holiday back into the Haunted Mansion also takes about 3 weeks.

Hopefully, changing the Haunted Mansion into Haunted Mansion Holiday is only the first step in Halloween returning to the Disneyland Resort once again! Inside the Magic will keep you updated should Disney announce any further additions to Halloween — possibly including the return of the popular Oogie Boogie Bash Halloween party that made its debut in 2019.
