Visiting the Happiest Place on Earth just got more expensive.

With record attendance at its theme parks, Disney said starting Sunday it would raise ticket prices across the board for the Disneyland Resort here and at Walt Disney World in Florida.

An adult one-day ticket to Disneyland or Disney California Adventure will rise from $96 to $99. A one-day park hopper add-on will increase from $54 to $56.

Tickets for children ages 3 to 9 will climb from $90 to $93. A price for a Premium annual pass with parking and no blackout dates will go up 11 percent, from $699 to $779.

Some parkgoers were frustrated, even outraged, at the news, taking to social media to sound off.

"It is kind of ridiculous that Disney is raising admission costs," said Tarisa McGillivray, 27, Orange."It's sad to think you have to spend so much to go to the "Happiest Place on Earth."

Others took the price hike in stride.

"In comparison to say a concert ticket to a well known artist, Disneyland ticket prices are not that high for the level of entertainment you get in the parks," said Andrea Bradshaw, 30, of Corona.

Single-day ticket prices at Disneyland have increased by more than 140 percent since 2000; and 13 percent since Cars Land in Disney California Adventure opened in 2012.

At Walt Disney World, ticket prices broke the $100 mark.

A one-day trip to the Magic Kingdom will now cost visitors $105, up $6. Tickets to one of the other three Florida theme parks - Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios - went from $94 to $97.

"A day at a Disney Park is unlike any other in the world, and there is strong demand for our attractions and entertainment," said Betsy Sanchez, a Disneyland Resort spokeswoman, in a statement. "We continually add new experiences, and many of our guests select multi-day tickets or annual passes, which provide a great value and additional savings."

The $3 adult ticket bump at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure is on par with Disney price hikes from previous years. One of the main drivers of the price boost is likely record attendance at Disney theme parks.

Though Disney does not release attendance figures, CFO Jay Rasulo recently told investors that attendance at Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Resort was up 7 percent last quarter - a company record for any first quarter.

According to the Theme Park Entertainment Association, which Disney belongs to, California Adventure had 8.5 million visitors in 2013 , while Disneyland had 16.2 million visitors.
