A Disneyland Monorail train encountered mechanical problems Tuesday, causing passengers to be stuck on one of the trains for about 50 minutes, a park official said.

A train, with no passengers aboard, broke down around at 5 p.m. at the Tomorrowland Station, according to a Suzi Brown, a Disneyland spokeswoman.

As a result, passengers aboard another train couldn't make it into Tomorrowland and had to be towed back by a vehicle on the tracks to Downtown Disney, Brown said.

Information about the cause of the malfunction was not immediately available.
