The waits were as long as five to six hours for riders wanting to be the first to "drop-in" to "Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout!," the newest attraction at Disney California Adventure that opened to the public Saturday, May 27.

"It was like a six-hour wait, but it was definitely worth it," said Odette Medina, who traveled from San Diego to ride it on the first day.

The new ride replaced the Tower of Terror attraction, angering some fans of the original ride. But others gave it a look and a positive review.

"I was totally against it when I first heard about it, but after experiencing it, I actually prefer this version," said Jordann Gutelius of San Francisco, who was sporting a Tower of Terror hat.

People were posting on social media about the long lines, which started within an hour of the park's opening Saturday morning. But they were also talking about how much better the ride was than before.

Others were ranking it better than the previous favorite Disneyland Resort attraction, Indiana Jones.

"It was better than Indiana Jones, it was so cool," said Andrew Brice, who was here on a visit from Marysville, Washington with two friends.

Other visitors had the same view, saying they liked all the surprises and multiple drops; while another said it was more immersive than the Indy ride.

Many riders said they enjoyed the queue line, which included displays in the lobby featuring props from the Guardians movies and "Easter Eggs" like a "Figment" figure from Disney's Epcot in Florida.

The lines were also long to get into the merchandise shop, and have photos taken with Groot, Spiderman, Captain America and other Marvel characters.

The stand-by line stayed long well into the afternoon, with all the Fastpass tickets quickly snatched up by those who entered early. Those who did get Fastpass tickets went ahead and waited in the line.

"After spending five hours in line, I'll be back later today with my Fastpass," said Robert Trabing of Whittier.
