If you're planning a Disneyland trip this summer, there are quite a few new experiences that have popped up around the resort as part of Disney's ''Kids Rule Summer'' celebration.
From a new Star Wars adventure to dance parties, scavenger hunts, and Bluey-themed fun, Disneyland is giving families plenty to do beyond just hopping from ride to ride.
Here are a few of the highlights worth adding to your itinerary:
Bluey's Best Day Ever! Is Still One Of The Best Stops For Families
If you have a Bluey fan or two in your group, Fantasyland Theatre should probably be near the top of your list.
The interactive show-and-play areas let kids dance, play games, and see Bluey and Bingo throughout the day. It's the perfect place for kids to get out some energy (and for parents to sit and take a break in the shade). You can also get there early or stay after the show ends, so you don't have to rush in and out, which is nice when you just want to slow down for a minute.
You can also pick up Bluey-themed merchandise, including exclusive apparel, hats, and sippers......or grab Bluey-inspired food and drinks nearby (HIGHLY recommend the Pizza Girls Baked Potato and Lime Ice Block Drink). There's even a Bluey kids meal available at Troubadour Tavern for $5.99.
Star Wars Fans Can Experience An All-New Mission On Smugglers Run
One of the biggest additions this summer is a new version of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
The updated adventure sends riders on missions alongside the Mandalorian and Grogu, with possible destinations including Bespin, Endor, and Coruscant. Engineers also get some new responsibilities during the ride, including interacting directly with Grogu.
New Character Meet-and-Greets In Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge
One complaint many Star Wars fans had about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when it first opened was the absence of characters from the original trilogy. While guests could encounter newer-era characters such as Rey, Kylo Ren, and members of the Resistance and First Order, iconic characters like Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia Organa, Han Solo, and Darth Vader were notably missing from meet-and-greet experiences.
That has now changed, as Disney has begun incorporating original trilogy favorites into Galaxy's Edge, giving guests the chance to see and interact with Luke, Leia, Han, and Vader there. So whether you have little ones or grown-up kids at heart who love the original trilogy, you now have a chance to meet the iconic characters during your visit.
Dance Parties Throughout The Resort
Disney California Adventure recently added the Disney Friends Dance Party, while fan-favorite Stitch's Interplanetary Beach Party Blast has returned to Tomorrowland.
Hot tip: They're both easy ways to let kids burn off some energy between attractions and character meet-and-greets.
Free Activities Scattered In The Parks
First of all, kids can pick up a complimentary ''Mickey's Park Rangers'' activity book and participate in scavenger hunts. The booklet includes activities and places where children can collect stamps around the resort. Once completed, they can redeem it for a sticker prize. It's essentially a self-guided park activity designed to keep younger kids engaged between attractions.
Over at Redwood Creek Challenge Trail in California Adventure, Disney has added a ''Mabel's Seek and Find'' activity tied to Pixar's Hoppers. Kids explore the trail looking for clues and hidden elements.
For a limited time, Disneyland is offering the ''Youngling Saber Building Expo A Loth-Cat Crew Experience'' inside Savi's Workshop in Galaxy's Edge. It's recommended for kids ages 3–9 and lets them participate in a lightsaber-building adventure and become honorary members of the ''Loth-Cat Crew.'' Note: This limited-time experience is free to participate in, but the lightsaber isn't included (although it can be purchased afterward).
And finally, younglings can also get a free ''Bina's Creature Guide'' activity booklet at the Creature Stall in Galaxy's Edge, which is great for kids because it gives them something to do while waiting in line or walking around the land.
Disneyland 70th Anniversary Celebration Is Still Going Strong
On top of everything happening for Kids Rule Summer, guests can still catch anniversary offerings like Paint the Night, World of Color Happiness!, and Wondrous Journeys before the 70th celebration wraps up later this summer.
