Changes are coming to Disneyland’s famous “It’s A Small World” attraction in honor of the resort’s 70th anniversary.

Disneyland revealed on Wednesday that the theme song that plays during the familiar ride also called “It’s a Small World” will be updated with a third verse written by Richard M. Sherman, one of the song’s original composers.

Sherman, who wrote the song with his brother Roger Sherman, had written the new verse before his death in 2024. The lyrics were also discussed in the short film “The Last Verse,” released on Disney+ late last year.

Those lyrics, as published by Disney, go as follows:

“Mother earth unites us in heart and mind/And the love we give makes us humankind/Through our vast wondrous land/When we stand hand in hand/It’s a small world after all.”

The verse will premiere on the Disneyland ride starting on July 17, according to the blog post.

In honor of their work on “It’s a Small World,” guests interested in learning more about the Sherman Brothers can view “The Last Verse” at Disneyland’s Main Street Cinema as of July 17.

In addition to “It’s a Small World,” the Sherman Brothers also wrote “The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room” for Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” and “A Spoonful of Sugar” for the film “Mary Poppins,” and “I Wan’na Be Like You (The Monkey Song)” for the animated movie “The Jungle Book.” Together they won two Academy Awards, both in 1964: one for Best Original Song for “Chim Chim Cher-ee” from “Mary Poppins,” and one for Best Substantially Original Score for “Mary Poppins.”

Disneyland’s plans for the resort’s 70th anniversary include new gallery experiences at The Opera House on Main Street, U.S.A. The first gallery will focus on the “evolution” of Disneyland and contain “artefacts” and “curated relics.”

“Among the treasures on loan in the gallery will be original items from Walt’s private apartment above the Fire Station on Main Street. These items include an original rocking chair, lamp and table, all of which have never been publicly exhibited at Disneyland Park before,” according to the Disney Parks Blog.

Another gallery will focus on the park’s usage of audio-animatronics technology.

Speaking of which, Disneyland also broke the news that its Walt Disney audio-animatronic, which was slated to debut in May, will instead be revealed on July 17 at the “Walt Disney: A Magical Life” attraction at the Opera House.
