Pixar Fest is back at Disneyland Resort from now until August 4, 2024, with an impressive array of limited-time food offerings inspired by the animated films. It’s been six years since Pixar Fest first took over the amusement parks and the festivities have only ramped up since then.

Returning favorites, like the Up fried boloney sandwich and Toy Story alien-shaped macaron, join a long list of dishes tied to the film studio’s collection of work. The Coco-inspired fare best displays Disneyland’s culinary prowess, with an al pastor-topped Un Papa Loca baked potato that joins the ranks of favorites like birria tacos and Rancho del Zocalo’s extensive Mexican menu. A Luca-style chopped Italian sandwich arrives at Disneyland, while a plate of grilled prawn-topped pappardelle comes to California Adventure’s annual passholder-exclusive, Magic Key Terrace.

Plenty of confounding creations abound, including ube popcorn mixed with freeze-dried Skittles and an absolute glut of blue-tinted beverages. But for every food coloring-imbued snack, there’s a worthwhile creation or two, like the Toy Story barbecue potato dog and the Elemental-inspired chile-rubbed fried Gouda mac and cheese bites. The former features a pulled pork-topped smoked sausage served in a baked potato, while the latter is extra spicy as it’s inspired by a character who is fire incarnate. Elemental’s aguachile tostada at Lamplight Lounge might be more appealing for those who can’t take the heat.

On May 10, the Pixar Fest marketplace booths will debut inside California Adventure bringing miniature Ratatouille pizzettas, chile crisp-topped Turning Red pork bao, and Inside Out macaroni and cheese that tastes like Flamin’ Hot Cheetos to the park.

Downtown Disney District, the outdoor mall leading to the parks’ entries, is undergoing a culinary overhaul, adding a half-dozen new dining locations this year that’ll cement its status as a dinnertime destination. A trio of Mexican restaurants — Paseo, Céntrico, and Tiendita — opened May 2, serving three distinct styles of modern Mexican cooking from lauded Chicago chef Carlos Gaytán. Southern California stalwarts Din Tai Fung and Porto’s Bakery are slated to open as well, along with a to-be-announced steakhouse and adjoining barbecue restaurant in the former Tortilla Jo’s space.

For those needing a break between eating Mike Wazowski ice cream cones and espresso-dusted churros, catch the “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration” parade at California Adventure and “Together Forever: A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” fireworks show at Disneyland.
