Disneyland's "Paint the Night" parade lit up the Themed Entertainment Association's Thea Awards banquet by securing an award for Outstanding Achievement for a parade.

The parade has been offered nightly at Disneyland since the spring of 2015 in honor of the park's 60th anniversary.

The award was announced during the association's 2016 Gala Awards Banquet Saturday night at the Disneyland Hotel.

The association is a nonprofit group made up of companies that work in the design and installation of theme park attractions, similar to the Academy of Motion Pictures. Its Thea Awards are like getting an Oscar, but for theme park rides, experiences and museum exhibits.

The San Diego Zoo & San Diego Zoo Safari Park, received a Thea Classic Award for being "an exemplary and influential project that has stood the test of time of more than 25 years."

Receiving an Outstanding Achievement Award for a science-based project on a limited budget was the "Inspector Training Course" at the Discovery Cube Los Angeles. The course teaches kids how to inspect a home to make it more environmentally friendly and energy efficient by having them walk through a mock house with an interactive table. The Los Angeles location is a sister facility to the Discovery Cube in Santa Ana.

Los Angeles International Airport also secured an award for an Environmental Media Experience that recently opened in the revamped International Terminal at the airport.

Other honorees include: The Henry Ford and Ford Rouge Factory Tour in Detroit, the One World Observatory in New York City, and the "Moments of Happiness" exhibit at Coca Cola's corporate headquarters in Atlanta.
