The jack-o'-lanterns started magically appearing this week at Disneyland as the Halloween season grows near.

At the same time, the 60th anniversary decorations were magically disappearing into Yesterland. The large "60" button on the front of Sleeping Beauty Castle was removed, as were most of the related decorations on the lamp posts on Main Street U.S.A. Other elements of the 15-month Diamond Anniversary celebration should be gone by the end of the week, including the diamond look on the turrets of the castle.

Meanwhile, the Halloween Tree has sprouted jack-o'-lanterns in its branches, as it has since 2007 in Frontierland. In Tomorrowland, Hyperspace Mountain has disappeared as Space Mountain gets spooky for the Halloween season with its Ghost Galaxy overlay.

The Haunted Mansion looked nearly ready with the annual Halloween and Christmas holiday version of the attraction based on the movie "The Nightmare Before Christmas."

Refurbishment season is also in full swing at the Disneyland Resort, as several shops on Main Street U.S.A. were getting paint jobs, as was the exterior of Peter Pan's Flight in Fantasyland - though the attraction is open for trips to Neverland while the painters work.

Ariel's Undersea Adventure inside Disney California Adventure is closed for refurbishment, too.

Elsewhere around the younger theme park, nearly all the decorations for Disneyland's 60th anniversary celebration have been removed.

AP Days, small extras for annual passholders, were being held on Stage 12 and near Boardwalk Pasta and Pizza at the park. At the locations, passholders could get special buttons, unique scavenger hunt material and photo opportunities with Disney characters.

Rebel spies reported that construction activity in the "Star Wars" land construction zone has picked up as several concrete walls have appeared in the area. Some appear to be related to bridges for the new route for the Disneyland Railroad, while others appear to be for new berms and more.

Special Halloween events called "Mickey's Halloween Party" begin Sept. 23 at Disneyland. They are a separated ticketed event.
