A rare original 1954 Disneyland prospectus has sold at auction for $10,600 - that's five times the original estimate.

The item, a 14-page book of documents and images used to educate potential investors as to what they might expect at the park when it opened the following year, was just one of many unique lots for sale at Remembering Disneyland, a highly-anticipated sale of over 800 rare and original pieces chronicling the history of Disneyland. The original estimate for the prospectus was between $1,000 and $2,000.

The event took place at Van Eaton Galleries in Sherman Oaks, California, one of the world's top original animation art and collectibles galleries. The auction, as a whole, brought in almost double the previously estimated total.

Other highlights of the auction included an original Main Street Keystone Cop costume which sold for $6,900, an original elephant maquette from The Jungle Cruise that went for $12,075, a rare Rainbow Caverns attraction poster which sold for $16,1000, a Tower of Terror room key cabinet that went for $12,650 and a Tower of Terror lobby television prop found a new home for $13,800.

A full list of the items that sold is available on the gallery's website.

"There was something for everyone in this auction. It was also very special because most of the items in it came from people that actually worked at the park, or had a hand in creating it," said Mike Van Eaton, Co-Founder of Van Eaton Galleries.

In the past, Van Eaton Galleries has offered Disney collections such as The Story of Disneyland, Collecting Disney, and Walt Disney's Disneyland. "Next year we will be hosting several more Disney related auctions offering rare and unique items from the Happiest Place on Earth," added Van Eaton.

For over 60 years, Walt Disney's Disneyland has influenced popular culture and built generations of loyal enthusiasts across the globe. Fans and collectors of Disney memorabilia have made everything from simple toys to actual props and artwork from the parks among the hottest collectibles in the world to date.
