You may have to get up mighty early if you want a seat in Oga’s Cantina because the wait list for the Galaxy’s Edge cocktail bar could be full in less than an hour when the reservation-only period ends for Disneyland’s new Star Wars land.

Touring Plans, which uses big data and statistical analysis to calculate daily crowd sizes and ride wait times at theme parks, estimates that the Oga’s Cantina wait list could be allocated daily in just under 48 minutes once the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge reservation-only period ends on June 24.

“They may not all be gone in 48 minutes after the park opens,” said Len Testa, president of Touring Plans, an online subscription service that lets users create custom theme park itineraries. “But at anything approaching that rate, I doubt anything’s going to be available at noon.”

The wildly popular spaceport cantina that generated hours-long standby lines and forced Disneyland to turn away patrons on opening day has since instituted a first come, first served virtual queue. Bar patrons are limited to 45 minutes in the cantina and a two-drink maximum.

During the current reservation-only period, Disneyland is restricting visitors to a 4-hour time limit in Galaxy’s Edge through June 23. Starting June 24, Galaxy’s Edge visitors will need to log into the Disneyland app to secure a boarding pass in a virtual queuing system.

The first public bar in Disneyland has been doing a booming business. The wait list for Oga’s Cantina typically fills up within 15 to 20 minutes or less. Disneyland officials say the Oga’s Cantina virtual queue is usually allocated within 30 minutes at the beginning of each 4-hour window during the current reservation-only period.

Many annual passholders often arrive at Disneyland in the afternoon or the evening. By that time, FastPasses for the most popular attractions are often long gone or nearly all snapped up. The concern for passholders anxious to visit Oga’s Cantina is that Disneyland resort hotel guests and early bird visitors arriving at 8 a.m. will fill the spaceport cantina’s wait list each day.

Currently, a Disneyland cast member leads hundreds of new Galaxy’s Edge visitors at the beginning of each reservation period to Oga’s Cantina to get in line to add their names to a virtual queue wait list. Returning bar patrons wait in a 15- to 20-minute “buffer queue” to enter the cantina.

Expect the process for getting into Oga’s Cantina to continue to evolve during the reservation-only period, the virtual queue period and beyond. Disneyland plans to institute a permanent reservation system for Oga’s Cantina that will be similar to the theme park’s Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

Disney is continuing to look at how guests experience the land and will evolve practices along the way to deliver a great guest experience, officials said.

The intimate, true-to-story cantina has proven even more popular than the land’s signature E-Ticket attraction, with the line for the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run flight simulator dropping at times to walk-on status.
