Disney just announced that tickets are on sale for the newest Disney After Dark event — a Star Wars -themed evening. But should the over-$100 price tag include rides on the newest state-of-the-art attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance?

Disnyland’s after hours event — Star Wars Nite — takes place later this summer, and already it has created a lot of buzz on social media. Disneyland Resort annual passholders and hopeful guests were pretty excited when it was first announced that the event would be returning this year, especially since many were able to snag tickets to the last Star Wars Nite at Disneyland park in 2018. The evening is a Star Wars celebration that welcomes fans of all ages to take part in one of Disneyland park’s most exciting after dark events. But at the time the event was first announced, it was unclear whether Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance would be included.

Tickets for the one-night-only August 27th event Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite have gone on sale this week, and annual passholders were eager to purchase their discounted tickets (and they have already sold out). But upon further investigation of the event’s offerings, it looks like Disneyland won’t be allowing guests at Star Wars Nite to ride Rise of the Resistance after hours.

Why? Well, Rise of the Resistance is still on a boarding groups virtual queue system, so it’s possible that Disneyland wouldn’t want to accommodate guests after hours using boarding groups or not. The reasoning Disney gave on the official website states, “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will not be available during this event due to standard required maintenance time.”

We don’t know much else about why Rise of the Resistance wouldn’t be included in the Disneyland After Dark event, especially since the evening is themed entirely around Star Wars and includes themed offerings in both Tomorrowland and Galaxy’s Edge. It looks like at this time, your $100+ ticket to any of the after hours events won’t get you any more of a chance to ride Rise of the Resistance than usual.

But on the plus side, tickets to Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite will get you access to a lot of other out-of-this-world goodies. Here’s the list of event highlights, according to the official website.
