Guests waiting in line for Space Mountain may not realize that the upstairs queue takes them past what used to be the upper floor of Disneyland's main video arcade called Starcade in keeping with the rocket themes of Star Tours and other space-age establishments in the neighborhood. The illuminated complex once spread over two stories and housed hundreds of arcade games. However, the upper floor has been closed for years.A 30-foot long X-Wing Fighter from Star Wars used to be suspended above the escalator connecting the two floors. But as of 2011 that ship hangs in the Star Trader store.
There is a full-size X-Wing hanging above the escalator to the 2nd floor. Before the X-Wing was placed in the Starcade it hung from the ceiling of the Star Trader.

From Steve Birnbaum brings you the best of Disneyland 1982:
This two-level games arcade (adjoining Space Mountain) is by all accounts the best in Orange County-if not in all of California. There are always about 200 games-though which are on hand at any given time may vary. There are always a few for traditionalists and a couple that were custom-made for Disneyland to allow more than one player to participate at a time. Most of the rest are whatever happens to be hottest at the time and there's someone on the Disney staff to keep an eye on the games field to make sure that no state-of-the-art machine is omitted. All the machines take a quarter. There are $1 and $5 change machines, as well as cashiers, on the premises.
