Deep in the jungles of Adventureland, near the legendary Temple of the Forbidden Eye, brave adventurers might find a legendary treasure: Indiana Jones: The Pinball Adventure. This pinball table is highly desired by collectors and beloved by enthusiasts worldwide for it’s theme, gameplay and good looks, and the one inside Disneyland’s Adventureland is especially notable.

The pinball table has been available at Disneyland for several years previously in the Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost before being moved to it’s new location near Bengal Barbecue but not without it’s fair share of sudden disappearances. However, since the release of 2023’s Indiana Jones & the Dial of Destiny, the fan-favorite game has been available to play consistently and I think you should definitely seek it out next time you’re at Disneyland.

Indiana Jones: The Pinball Adventure was released in August of 1993 by Williams. Designed by Mark Ritchie (creator of other popular pinball tables like William’s Fish Tales and Chicago Gaming Company’s Pulp Fiction), the game sold almost 13,000 machines and was a quarter-muncher all over the world due to no small part of it’s theme.

Gameplay modes based on the original Indy trilogy had people coming back for more, whether it was shooting ramps to get the “Monkey Brains” 8 million point bonus, or trying to manage the six ball multiball during the “Well of Souls”. Adding to the fun was Sallah himself, John Rhys-Davies, returning to do original call outs for the table.

What makes the Disneyland machine so special is its beautiful and custom widebody enclosure. The standard arcade machine features a large Indiana Jones title across the side with Indy riding his horse near the Great Pyramids, while the Disneyland cabinet has been nestled inside a one-of-a-kind wooden body featuring gorgeous paint accents and bamboo legs.

The details are simple but classic, with a striking Cobra daring anyone with enough bravery to give this classic pinball machine a play. For the cost of 4 quarters, shouldn’t you try to live up to the legend? Afterall, if adventure has a name, it must be Indiana Jones.
