Star Tours at Disneyland and Disney World is set to elevate its experience by integrating updates inspired by The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and Andor.
StarWars.com recently unveiled these enhancements to the beloved attraction, promising an immersive journey into the Star Wars universe. Originally introduced in 1987 as the pioneering Star Wars attraction in Disney parks, Star Tours has continually evolved, traversing new destinations as the saga's narrative expands. With over 250 unique storyline variations, the ride promises fresh thrills with each visit.
Walt Disney Imagineering's Scott Trowbridge previously stated, ''Since it debuted at Disneyland in 1987 as the first Star Wars attraction in a Disney park, Star Tours has traveled to new places as this galaxy of stories expanded. We're looking forward to continuing that tradition [in 2024] with all new adventures ... but I can't reveal just where we're going yet – or those we may meet along the way – because ... well ... some surprises are best experienced as part of the upcoming Star Wars content also announced this weekend. Here's hoping C-3PO's piloting skills have improved!''
Ahsoka, Andor, Din Djarin, and Grogu Are Coming to Star Tours
Among the highlights are messages from iconic characters like Ahsoka Tano, Cassian Andor, Din Djarin, and Grogu. Ahsoka Tano's return is eagerly anticipated, with Rosario Dawson reprising her role from the Disney+ series Star Wars: Ahsoka. The series follows Ahsoka's quest for Grand Admiral Thrawn, aided by allies Sabine Wren and Hera Syndulla, under the direction of Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni.
Andor was created by Tony Gilroy exclusively for Disney+. Serving as the fourth live-action series in the Star Wars universe, it acts as a prequel to the spin-off film Rogue One (2016), itself a prelude to the iconic original Star Wars film (1977). Andor centers on the transformation of Cassian Andor, from a skilled thief to a dedicated rebel spy, unfolding over the pivotal five years leading up to the events depicted in both films. Diego Luna returns to portray Cassian Andor.
The Mandalorian emerged as a groundbreaking American space Western series masterminded by Jon Favreau. The Mandalorian takes place five years after the climactic events of Return of the Jedi (1983). Pedro Pascal takes on the titular role, portraying a lone bounty hunter who embarks on a perilous journey to safeguard the enigmatic Force-sensitive child known as Grogu from the lingering threat of Imperial remnants under the leadership of the formidable Moff Gideon.
Star Tours will include The Mandalorian, Andor and Ahsoka additions in April 2024 at Disneyland and Disney World.
