A few Disneyland guests got more thrills than they bargained for on the Haunted Mansion — some of the jump-scares were from Hollywood A-listers.
To promote the upcoming “Haunted Mansion” remake, stars Jamie Lee Curtis, LaKeith Stanfield and Owen Wilson dressed up as cast members — Disney’s name for employees — at the iconic ride. Each of the stars was even given a cast member name tag (Curtis’ says “Minnie Mouse” underneath to designate her favorite Disney character.) Late last month, they were spotted outside the mansion and seen filming a promo in the upstairs veranda. Now, the promo has dropped.
It’s every bit as charming as you’d expect, with Curtis getting the biggest reaction by far from guests. Lucky guests got high-fives from the film legend, who waved goodbye as the elevator door closed behind them. “Suckers!” she played to camera. Once out of the stretching room, guests were met by Stanfield and Wilson.
“I think people are surprised I’m not actually a talking car,” Wilson joked, referring to his character Lightning McQueen in the “Cars” franchise.
In the movie, Curtis plays Madame Leota, the famous floating head in a crystal ball that summons the spirits of the Haunted Mansion, Wilson plays Kent, a priest, and Stanfield plays Ben, a tour guide. The movie comes out July 28.
