A Winnie the Pooh ride and shop will reopen ahead of the debut of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure as Disneyland begins unveiling the transformation of Critter Country into Bayou Country to welcome Princess Tiana to the rethemed land.

Disneyland will reopen the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh dark ride and the Pooh Corner candy store on Thursday, Aug. 29.

The return on the Pooh ride and shop mark the unofficial transformation of Critter Country into Bayou Country.

The transition from Critter Country to Bayou Country won’t be official until Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens on Nov. 15, according to Disneyland officials.

Disneyland guide maps will continue to refer to Critter Country until the transition is official, according to Disneyland officials.

References to Bayou Country may appear in Disneyland before the official transition of the rethemed land, according to Disneyland officials.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will officially debut on Nov. 15 once the transformation of Splash Mountain is complete. A soft opening of the rethemed 1989 log flume ride remains a possibility.

Still to come in Bayou Country are the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree (updating the menu at the Hungry Bear restaurant), Louis’ Critter Club (taking over the half of Pooh Corner closest to the former Splash Mountain log ride) and Ray’s Berets (replacing the Briar Patch shop).

No opening dates have been set for Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, Louis’ Critter Club or Ray’s Berets.

The reimagining of the Splash Mountain ride removes thematic elements related to “Song of the South” the controversial 1940s film criticized for perpetuating racist stereotypes that has been disowned by Disney.

Retheming the Briar Patch named for Brer Rabbit’s trap in the Uncle Remus stories removes the last remaining reminder of the “Song of the South” from the Anaheim theme park.
