What bothers you the most when visiting a Disney theme park? The expensive ticket prices? Other passengers talking loudly on rides? Or visitors glued to their phones the entire time? If you answered the latter, we have good news for you.

Disney parkgoers have recently spotted a new sign on one of Disneyland’s most popular rides. Some consider this the first step towards a much-needed ban on all rides. Yet, it’s too early for such speculations. So, what exactly does the sign say, and why are passengers so enthusiastic about it? Here is everything you should know about it.

New Sign At Disneyland Bans Phones

Visitors at Disneyland have recently noticed a new sign on one of the park’s most popular rides: Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. According to it, ‘hand-held or loose items’ are now banned. The good news? This includes phones.

Why Has This Disneyland Ride Banned Phones?

To cite one of the ride’s signs, Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway is ‘an exciting journey through a variety of cartoon environments aboard a train car that travels forward, backwards, and sideways in a sudden and unpredictable manner.’

This means the chances of suddenly losing your phone if you’re filming during the ride are quite high. You will go through a tornado, a dance site, and a construction site, meaning that sudden jerky movements are to be expected.

However, this is a problem affecting most rides. When you lose your phone or whatever other items you have in your hands, the ride may have to shut down entirely. In some cases, you will be given your item back only at the end of the day, and you surely don’t want to spend an entire day at Disneyland without your phone.

Many Users Praised Disney For The Ban, Yet Some Raised Questions

The new ban was praised by plenty of Disney parkgoers. In a post shared on Reddit, several users complimented the park management for this bold choice. The vast majority of people asked Disneyland to implement this rule on all rides.

Others even commented that phones and public filming inside Disney should be banned, asking the park to implement a photo-only policy. People pointed out that filming fireworks is particularly annoying because it ruins the show for everyone for no reason, since once people leave the park, nobody truly watches those videos anyway.

Yet, not everyone was so hypercritical. For instance, some users pointed out that influencers using GoPros should be allowed to film, as they create useful content for those who have never been to the park to get a better idea of what to expect.

Some also suggested Disney install bag holders on their rides. For instance, user kdm31091 stated that people don’t know where to put items they would otherwise hold in their hands, such as their hats.

It’s still unclear whether this rule will soon be implemented on other Disneyland rides. However, from now on, passengers will be able to enjoy at least one attraction in the park without phones flashing lights and constantly filming everything happening, a big ‘hurrah’ for those who truly want to immerse themselves in Disney’s magic.
