Is It Time To Make Haunted Mansion Holiday Permanent

Hey friends, have you ever found yourself waiting in that ever-growing queue outside Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion Holiday and wondered, What if this version stayed all year? The holiday overlay, inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, has become a seasonal highlight for many, spanning from the Halloween season right through the holidays. It’s one of those magical crossovers that feels like it shouldn’t work but absolutely does. With guests happily lining up even on the quietest days of the year, it’s easy to see why some are starting to ask: Should Haunted Mansion Holiday become a permanent attraction?

This year, the seasonal overlay will be in place from August 22nd, 2025, through January 7th, 2026, giving us roughly 139 days to enjoy its beauty. However, with weeks’ worth of closure time to install and remove the additional features, I’m wondering if the downtime is worth the conversion back to the original.

As someone who adores both the original attraction and the festive charm of the overlay, I can’t help but entertain the idea. The Haunted Mansion is an icon in its natural form, of course, but with the classic version remaining untouched at Walt Disney World, could this be Disneyland’s chance to carve out a true point of difference? Beyond the playful debate of which way the stretching room actually stretches, a permanent Haunted Mansion Holiday would give the West Coast a unique spin on a beloved classic while still preserving the original experience in Florida.

Now, if you’re a fan of the traditional mansion, I completely understand the hesitation, and truthfully, I share it. There’s something timeless and eerie about the original that’s hard to part with. Still, I can see the value in the conversation. Jack Skellington, Sally, and the rest of the Halloweentown crew feel so perfectly at home within the gates of New Orleans Square, and year after year, this frightfully fantastic overlay continues to steal the spotlight. Whether it remains a seasonal celebration or one day takes up permanent residence, one thing is certain: the combination of Disney magic and Tim Burton’s imagination has created something that fans can’t seem to get enough of.
