Disneyland welcomed its 1 billionth guest earlier this month.
The California theme park announced on July 3 that 8-year-old Andres Robles was the honorary 1 billionth guest welcomed into Disneyland. The historic milestone came while Andres was celebrating his birthday, alongside his parents Alejandra and Jose Robles of Arizona.
The big milestone also came during the park's 70th birthday celebration. Disneyland first opened in Anaheim, California, in 1955.
As part of a joint celebration, the Robles family was invited to a brief ceremony on Main Street, U.S.A. with Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse to unveil and update a sign at the park that read ''Population 1,000,000,000.''
The Walt Disney Company said the Robles family received a ''VIP tour guide'' for the day, including a tour of Walt Disney's private apartment, the newly opened ''Soarin' Across America'' attraction and other special experiences.
“Welcoming our one billionth guest is a remarkable milestone for Disneyland Resort and a testament to the generations of guests who have made this special place part of their lives,” said Jill Estorino, president of the Disneyland Resort, in a statement. “For more than 70 years, Walt’s original park has been a timeless symbol of Disney storytelling, where memories are made and shared, and we are honored to carry that legacy forward for guests today and for generations to come.”
