Coffee & Dessert This historic café has been serving piping hot coffee since Disneyland opened in 1955. It's a great place to get a simple cup of coffee, an expertly crafted cappuccino, tea, hot cocoa and a variety of baked goods. A renovation and reopening at the end of 2013 brought a whole new look to the Market House and introduced Starbucks. From WED Disneyland Dictionary 1968
Market House is a replica of the old-fashioned grocery and butcher shop. It features a pot-bellied stove and recorded party-line phones that provide many chuckles for guests. "Cider' and dill pickles are also sold. Sponsored by Swift & Co.
C & H Sugar Corner is also located in the Swift Market House. Penny candy and colored decorator sugar is displayed and sold in this unique setting sponsored by California and Hawaiian Sugar Refining Corporation.
From Steve Birnbaum brings you the best of Disneyland 1982:
This Disney version of an old fashioned general store sells dried apples, peach- es and prunes, malted milk balls, candy canes, spice drops, rock candy, and other staples of daily life in years gone by. But this is one case in which the setting really outshines the merchandise. At the entrance, for instance, there are a half dozen captain's chairs surrounding a real antique potbellied stove and an honest-to-goodness checkerboard where the competitive among the footsore actually do strike up games. Scattered around the warm- paneled premises are a few old-fashioned telephones. You can listen in on a typical turn-of-the- century conversation in which a mother expounds to her daughter on fried-onion poultices as a cure for the common cold, newfangled union suits, hauling water and cutting wood, eligible bachelors, the use of sliced cucumbers to perk up a complexion, and the exorbitant price of steak-all of 11¢ a pound! In the southeast corner of the store, there's a small room full of oversize music boxes a Symphonion music box from the early 1900s, a player piano, and a Violano Virtuoso, once designated among the eight greatest inventions of its decade. And on the east wall of the store there is a handful of quaint old photographs and antique tools. Presented by Del Monte and Sun Giant.
Market House started selling Starbucks coffee in April 2013
