The Tomorrowland stage filled the eastern corner of Tomorrowland where the flying saucers had hovered in the early 60s.The stage itself was about 30 feet across and festooned with the same kind of acts and abstractions that had adorned the Tomorrowland Terrace.The Tomorrowland Stage was a big setting for big show's among the large-scale musical spectaculars presented here was Show Me America a fast-paced musical comedy with more than 120 sparkling costumes and favorite American Melody sprinkled with a touch of old-fashioned humor.Stars booked here included Pat Boone, Herman's Hermits, Linda Ronstadt back by the newly-formed Eagles and the parks own Kids Of The Kingdom.Johnny Mathis and his own singing group, Our Young Generation played June 17 through 21 of 1968. One high point was a live big screen broadcast of the Apollo 11 moonwalk on July 20th 1969.
Not only was the event historic For most people it was the first time they had seen a large-scale TV broadcast.With the 1977 opening of Space Mountain, the Space Stage replaced the Tomorrowland Stage.The Space Stage was built into the base of Space Mountain, and had a more permanent appearance than the Tomorrowland Stage.The outdoor stage had seating for 1,100 people.
