After a six-month hiatus, the Disneyland Resort will resume selling three of the four Magic Key annual passes today, Wednesday, Nov. 16.

The sales will start no earlier than 9 a.m. Pacific on the Disneyland app and the website.

Three of the four passes will be available for sale, at the same prices for which they were previously sold. The Enchant pass will not be sold but will be available for renewal by existing pass holders up to 30 days before their passes expire. Guests with an Enchant key must renew them before the expiration date.

The passes for sale are:

• Inspire: $1,599

• Believe: $1,099

• Imagine: $449 (Southern California residents only)

“Passes or a pass type are subject to limited availability and may not be available from time to time or at any given time,” a Disney official said.

The current pass system was implemented in August 2021, Disney said, to manage crowds. It replaced an annual pass system that was eliminated while the parks were closed for more than a year by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sales of the Dream Key — since replaced by the Inspired Key — were halted in October 2021. The next month, sales of the Believe Key were dropped. The Enchant Key and Imagine Key passes were no longer available beginning in May.

Changes to the annual passes have been a source of frustration for some guests. Those who once could get into the parks on a moment’s notice now are required to make reservations — and those are not always available. Some of the passes are blacked out on weekend dates and during the summer months.

At least two pass holders have sued Disney, alleging that the Dream Key was sold on the promise of no blackout dates when in fact, they say, the reservation system effectively prevented them from entering the parks every day.

The sales will be good news to fans of the resort who let their passes lapse or wanted to purchase new passes with the Christmas season currently being celebrated and new attractions around the corner to mark The Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary.

Those include a new World of Color show in Disney California Adventure and a new nighttime spectacular in Disneyland that will feature projections and, on select nights, fireworks.

A trackless attraction, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, is scheduled to open on Jan. 27 in Disneyland’s Toontown.

The resumption of the pass sales comes one week after a disappointing earnings report from the corporation, which was followed by news of an internal memo in which a hiring freeze and layoffs were announced. The company has not said how those moves will affect the theme parks.
