The little portrait studio on Main Street U.S.A. where lightning-quick artists armed with only scissors create hand-crafted paper cutout silhouettes of Disneyland visitors in less than a minute has returned for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic closed the park.

The Silhouette Studio at Disneyland will reopen at noon on Friday, Aug. 26, according to the Disneyland website.

The Silhouette Studio will be open from noon until 8 p.m. from Aug. 26 through Sept. 1. Starting on Sept. 2, the studio’s hours will be 8 a.m. to park close on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and noon to 8 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays.

Studio artists create the silhouette busts from black craft paper at a rate of 60 seconds per portrait and can create a family portrait in just a few minutes.

Main Street U.S.A. Silhouette Studio has remained closed since the pandemic reopening of the park in April 2021. Disneyland has been hiring part-time silhouette artists in recent weeks, according to Disney Careers. The Silhouette Studio has remained shuttered since the pandemic closed Disneyland in March 2020.

The Main Street U.S.A. Silhouette Studio was one of the last remaining Disneyland locations to remain closed during the ongoing phased reopening of the parks.

The Star Wars Launch Bay, Magic Eye Theater and TomorrowLanding gift shop at Disneyland and the Hyperion Theatre, Blue Sky Cellar and Radiator Springs Curios souvenir shop at Disney California Adventure are still closed.

Mickey’s Toontown and Tarzan’s Treehouse remain behind construction walls as they undergo extensive renovations.
