A massive bronze gold tiara atop a new water tower poking out of Splash Mountain’s hillside will boldly announce Tiana’s takeover of the classic Disneyland attraction when the Disney princess finally moves into New Orleans Square.

Disneyland unveiled a scale model of the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure makeover of Splash Mountain during the D23 Expo that kicked off Friday, Sept. 9 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is scheduled to reopen in late 2024 at the Anaheim theme park.

The tiara-topped water tower will be emblazoned with the logo for Tiana’s Foods. The community food co-op was established in 1927, according to the new backstory for the attraction.

The new Splash Mountain backstory finds the restaurateur-turned-princess opening Tiana’s Foods following the success of Tiana’s Palace restaurant in the 2009 “Princess and the Frog” animated film.

According to the backstory, the employee-owned food cooperative is housed inside the aging salt mine within the former Splash Mountain with growers planting crops along the waterway that flows around the famed mountain peak.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure riders will ascend the lift hill through a mill house built into the side of the mountain powered by water troughs feeding a spinning water wheel.

Musical critters seen in the show scenes of the revamped log flume attraction will include an otter audio-animatronic playing a fiddle made from a tin can, tree bark and fishing line.

Magical lighting effects triggered by the film’s voodoo priestess Mama Odie will fill the hilltop cavern with glowing colors just before riders descend the log ride’s dramatic drop.

Tiana’s Splash Mountain land grab at Disneyland is expected to force the annexation of the Critter Country attraction into neighboring New Orleans Square.

The first element of Tiana’s takeover of Splash Mountain will open in a few weeks next to the Blue Bayou restaurant — solving the mystery of what’s been “cooking” in New Orleans Square for more than a year.

Eudora’s Chic Boutique retail store will open at Disneyland in New Orleans Square on Sept. 20 with a portion of the new shop dedicated to Tiana’s Gourmet Secrets. The Tiana-themed store is named for the seamstress mother of the animated Disney princess.

A corner of Eudora’s Chic Boutique will feature a period show scene with a sewing machine, sewing mannequin and aprons, according to concept art for the new attraction.

Signs in the window of the shuttered Le Bat en Rouge retail shop proclaiming “Something New is Cooking” led Mouse Watchers to speculate that a Tiana-themed eatery was coming to the New Orleans Square location. The new shop is expected to sell clothing and cooking accessories.

Disneyland has not yet announced a closing date for Splash Mountain.
