Star Wars Stunt Show Rarely Seen

An epic Star Wars lightsaber battle rarely seen at Disneyland between the Resistance and the First Order recently made a brief appearance in Galaxy’s Edge raising hopes the rooftop stunt show could become a nightly tradition.

The “Blaze Your Path: The Finale” stunt show was part of a Star Wars-themed Make-A-Wish event last week at the Anaheim theme park.

The five-day Blaze Your Path event for 19 Make-A-Wish kids and their families included a dinner party in front of Kylo Ren’s TIE Echelon ship and a one-of-a-kind lightsaber battle stunt show.

“While this was a wonderful event for the Make-A-Wish families, we do hope that Galaxy’s Edge will begin offering entertainment such as this to all guests on a daily basis, much like Avengers Campus does.''

A similar Star Wars stunt show was first seen in 2019 during a Galaxy’s Edge opening night press event at Disneyland featuring a dozen actors, special effects, blaster fire and pyrotechnics on the stage above the landspeeder garage.

The Star Wars stunt show concept envisioned for Disneyland moved to the short-lived Galactic Starcruiser hotel at Walt Disney World that concluded each three-day, two-night experience with a grand finale lightsaber battle between Kylo Ren and Rey Skywalker.

“The Art of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” coffee table book that came out in 2021 included concept art of a never-realized large-scale show featuring a fight between Kylo Ren, Rey, Chewbacca and Vi Moradi above the landspeeder garage, according to Attractions Magazine.

Walt Disney Imagineering showed a video during the Star Wars Celebration in 2017 of a stunt show in development for Galaxy’s Edge designed to put visitors in the middle of action sequences, according to Blog Mickey.

Galaxy’s Edge has several stages near the Millennium Falcon, X-Wing fighter and landspeeder garage that sit largely unused for anything other than meet-and-greet locations.

Kylo Ren makes an entrance on the TIE Echelon assault shuttle stage that feels like the beginning of a show that ultimately never happens.

Disneyland and other Disney theme parks have granted 155,000 wishes to Make-A-Wish kids over the past 45 years.

The Blaze Your Path event included lightsaber and droid building experiences and the chance to meet Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, C-3PO and other Star Wars characters rarely seen in Galaxy’s Edge.
