Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin is a signature attraction in Mickey's Toontown.After opening in 1994 one year after Toontown debut the ride became popular enough to warrant fast pass ticket distribution. The cartoon spin is similar to the Fantasyland dark rides, which feature little vehicles moving through decorated sets with animated movie themes. Rogers ride however, offer something that Fantasyland rides don't guests controlled vehicles.Roger's cars can be spun around a full 360 degrees like the teacups in the Mad Hatter's Mad Tea Party after entering a garage and climbing into smiling cars designed to resemble the cabs in Who Framed Roger Rabbit guests begin a colorful excursion through that movies toontown.
The trip gets spinney as soon as the cabs slide through the deadly dip slick the weasels have poured onto the road. From this point on guests can whirl their cars in a circle pointing them at anything that passes some 5 minutes and a dozen audio animatronic characters later Roger extricates guests by opening a portable hole that leads back to the garage.From the entrance to the exit frantic energies zany imagination and madcap gags burst out of this attraction. The queue area rivals Indiana Jones Adventure for clever details. A wisecracking gorilla, a pin-up calendar, a dip recipe, a wall of Disney themed license plates and many more making the wait an attraction in itself.
Here are some things to watch for in the Roger Rabbit queue: A bulletin board features a flyer fora Lost Magic Feather, a nod to Dumbo and his friend Timothy Mouse. A door to the exclusive Ink & Paint Club to catch Jessica Rabbit's show, knock on the door and say "Walt Sent Me". The wallpaper in Baby Herman's dressing room features a custom pinup pattern inspired by Jessica Rabbit's curvy silhouette. She's not bad, she's just drawn that way. In Baby Herman's dressing room peer through the glass to catch a glimpse of Baby Herman smoking a cigar and scanning the papers for a lead on a horse.Featured on the racing form is Horace Horsecollar, a classic Disney Cartoon character from the 1920's, and 30s. Several Disney inspired vanity plates have been posted on the loading zone walls
The DIP cans at the beginning of the attraction are actual movie props from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" One of the cans has a dent from where Christopher Lloyd, as Judge Doom, kicked it in. Kathleen Turner's voice is featured in this attraction as Jessica Rabbit.Hop aboard a toon taxicab and stay on the trail of Roger Rabbit and Benny the Cab as they race through town in search of Jessica Rabbit while avoiding the villainous weasels, who are pouring toon-melting dip in the paths of passing vehicles including yours!A wild ride that you control. As you drive through downtown Toontown, be on the lookout for the dreaded glowing Dip, which could send your cartoon ride into a turbulent tailspin.
Steer your vehicle a full 360 degrees as you manage to gain control and pilot to safety along a crazy course. Crash and dash through Bullina China Shop and slip and slide through the Power House. Be blown out of this world in true cartoon fashion before spinning recklessly into the Gag Warehouse storage area,where the wily weasels are waiting in the dreaded Dipmobile that is taking aim at your cab.Is this the end of the line for you Roger Rabbit. Guests may come for the twirl, but they'll return for the barrage of jokes. Any attraction that culminates with a backwards journey through the Gag Warehouse has just got to be ridden again and again. The scenery displayed during the cabs ride is more detail than it is in most attractions because of the freedom of movement enjoyed by the spinning guests imagineers had to create fronts sides and backs to everything since guests would be observing from all directions.
