The Observatron was added during 1998 major Tomorrowland remodel while it was new to Disneyland The Observatron wasn't new
to the Disney canon.
A similar device had already been operating at Disneyland Paris a futuristic kinetic sculpture that looks like a screwdriver
mounted to the top of dish antennas the Observatron sits above the old People Mover loading area.
According to Disneyland the Observatron signals the quarter-hour with an impressive array of movements lights and vibrant music.
