The Disneyland Hotel will become the third and final hotel at the Disneyland resort to reopen following an extended coronavirus closure once California ends pandemic mandates and fully reopens the state’s economy.
The Disneyland Hotel will partially reopen on July 2 for the first time in more than a year after closing in March 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel returned at limited capacity on April 29 — a day before Disneyland and Disney California Adventure reopened after a 412-day pandemic closure. Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel will reopen on June 15 — the same day Gov. Gavin Newsom plans to end mandates in the Blueprint for a Safer Economy and fully reopen the state economy.
Disneyland Hotel reservations can be made for the Fantasy Tower starting Thursday, May 20. The Disneyland Hotel’s Adventure Tower and Frontier Tower will reopen at a later date.
Reservations at one of Disney’s three Anaheim hotels won’t guarantee theme park access to Disneyland or Disney California Adventure — which require advance reservations.
Disney used the pandemic closure as an opportunity to refurbish the original Disneyland hotel that opened in October 1955 a few months after the theme park debuted.
Fantasy Tower upholstery, fabrics and carpeting throughout the hotel rooms and lobbies were refreshed and updated during the coronavirus closure. Platform beds have been added to help maximize storage. Hotel room carpeting now features a fireworks pattern. Corridor flooring has graphic patterns inspired by the artwork of Disney Legend Mary Blair, who was responsible for the distinct look and aesthetic of the It’s a Small World attraction.
The Disneyland Hotel’s themed pools, Monorail waterslides, Mickey and Minnie spa whirlpools, poolside bar and fitness center will return on July 2.
Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, Tangaroa Terrace Tropical Bar & Grill and the Disneyland Hotel Coffee House will also be back when the hotel partially reopens. The Steakhouse 55 and Goofy’s Kitchen restaurants will return at a later date. Select Downtown Disney restaurants provide food delivery services to the three Disneyland resort hotels.
