When Guests visit Disneyland Resort, often they will feel as if they are in a very unique world where no two things are alike. Heck, even garbage cans completely change when you walk into a new land, whether it be Fantasyland or Tomorrowland.
At Disneyland Park, it is an easy statement to say that there is so much detail to take in, but there is one rather large detail that was duplicated twice. When Guests visit a store at Disneyland, even if the same merchandise can be found at the Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A., the theming of the shop feels unique and one of a kind.
There is one store, however, that is actually duplicated, and not too many people notice. The Mad Hatter, a merchandise location that primarily sells Mickey ears and hats (as you would guess from the store name), is actually located in two areas of Disneyland, and the name of both shops is the exact same.
You can find the store in either Town Square or Fantasyland, and the name will not change! Much like we have Target and Wal-Mart as our go-to chain stores, it seems that Mickey Mouse has The Mad Hatter as his chain store, which is pretty ironic for a mouse who rarely wears a hat!
Although the names are the same, Disney describes each location in its own right. The Fantasyland location is described as:
Top off a whimsical trip through Fantasyland by taking your pick from all kinds of Disney-themed headwear—from tiaras and princess hennins to Mickey Ears and more. Be sure to put a cap on your purchase by personalizing a hat with your name!
And on Main Street, U.S.A., The Mad Hatter is seen as:
Head into Disneyland Park in style with a stop at this Main Street, U.S.A. shop. It’s filled to the brim with so many caps, you’re sure to find the perfect fit—whether getting Goofy with your headwear or personalizing a pair of Mickey Ears!
Although the descriptions slightly differ, the heart of each explanation remains the same. This is where Guests can purchase ears, hats, and have caps personalized when they visit Disneyland. Interestingly enough, even though the location is popular enough to have two in the same Park in California, across the country at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, there is no hat store-themed to the Alice in Wonderland character.
