A pair of new lounges exclusively for Magic Key annual passholders at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure offer a quiet place to grab a cocktail and a chance to snap photos of Mickey and Minnie in Halloween costumes you won’t see anywhere else in the parks.
The Magic Key lounge in Disneyland opened Wednesday, Sept. 1 for a limited time to keyholders. Advance dining reservations for the new Magic Key Terrace in Disney California Adventure will be available beginning Thursday, Sept. 2.
Magic Key Terrace opened to annual passholders on Aug. 25 — the same day the Magic Key annual passes went on sale. Disneyland ended its former four-decade-old annual pass program in January during the extended coronavirus closures of the parks.
Magic Key Terrace
The new Magic Key Terrace on the second floor of the Golden Vine Winery was formerly the Alfresco Tasting Terrace — which was also exclusive to annual passholders and their guests.
Located above the Mendocino Terrace, the AP bar sits next to the former Mondavi Vineyard Room fine dining restaurant that offers panoramic views of the park. Keep your eyes on the skies above Avengers Campus while visiting the patio bar and you might catch the Spider-Man stuntronic soaring through the air.
The food on the Magic Key Terrace menu can be enjoyed as an entree or shared as an appetizer with names that make sly references to retired DCA rides, eateries and themed lands.
Condor Flatbread — Duck confit, goat cheese, grapes, fig jam and greens ($16)
Screamin’ Cauliflower Ceviche — Cauliflower, cucumber, tomato, mango, onions, jalapeños and avocado with tortilla chips and mango-habanero sauce ($14)
Slider Invasion — Beef tenderloin sliders with chimichurri and pickled red onions ($18)
Bountiful Valley Charcuterie — Selection of cheeses and meats ($18)
Mulholland Meatballs — Meatballs, charred broccolini, pickled red onions, whipped burrata and shaved crostini with spicy tomato sauce ($16)
Golden Dreams — Seared scallops, potato fritters, roasted carrot puree, citrus turmeric gel and fresh greens ($22)
The Magic Key Terrace cocktail menu also features drinks with pun-filled names that recall old DCA attractions.
The Stinger — Dulce Vida pineapple jalapeno tequila, Cointreau and orange-habanero simple syrup ($15)
Millionaire’s Manhattan — Buffalo Trace bourbon, MacMurray Estate pinot noir, simple syrup and a charred cinnamon stick meant to evoke a cigar ($16)
Drop In If You Dare — Hendrick’s gin, St. Germain elderflower liqueur, lemon juice and maraschino cherry mix ($17)
5, 4, 3, 2, 1 — Captain Morgan spiced rum, Bols blue curacao, coconut-pineapple cream, lime juice and simple syrup ($17)
Pizza Oom Mow Wow — Bloody Mary with Tito’s vodka and pineapple, pepperoncini and mushroom flavors garnished with a slice of pizza and a skewer of cured meats, olives and pepperoncinis ($17)
Ultra Flight — Trio of gin cocktails with orange, pine and sea flavors ($17)
Heimlich Chew Chew Juice — Non-alcoholic lemonade and Granny Smith apple syrup cocktail garnished with a watermelon wedge ($5.75)
California wines are available for $9 to $16 per glass with craft beers running $9.25 to $10.50.
Magic Key Starcade Lounge
The limited-time Magic Key lounge will be open to keyholders from Sept. 1 through Oct. 30 in the Tomorrowland Starcade. The lounge offers photo opportunities, mobile phone charging stations and other Magic Key perks.
Mickey and Minnie pose for socially distanced meet-and-greet selfies dressed in exclusive orange and black Halloween costumes only seen by keyholders — with Mickey in a magician costume and Minnie dressed as a cat.
Other photo op locations include a Muppets Haunted Mansion backdrop with ghostly versions of Gonzo and Pepe, a tribute to 20 years of Haunted Mansion gingerbread houses and a neon-colored Magic Key keyhole lock near the entrance.
Four seating areas with white leather couches and mobile phone charging stations offer a relaxing spot to repower — physically and digitally — during a long day at Disneyland.
The Magic Key Starcade lounge showcases keyholder exclusive merchandise like Mickey ears, mobile phone cases and refillable popcorn buckets available in the parks.
For now, the Magic Key Starcade Lounge is open daily from noon to 6 p.m.
