It’s hard to overstate Walt Disney’s presence in Disneyland, even almost 60 years after his death. But for the first time, the man himself will be featured in a park attraction. At the D23 fan convention in Anaheim, the company announced that Walt Disney is getting his own animatronic, which will be featured in an all-new show.

“The reason that we're together tonight is because of one man's dream,” Disney Parks head Josh D’Amaro said during the Disney Experiences presentation on Saturday. “And here tonight we're a part of that dream. It carries on today down through the generations. But now, next year at Disneyland, we're going to experience that dream like never before.”

Disney will be featured in a show called “Walt Disney A Magical Life.”

“We’re advancing the technology that he pioneered 60 years ago with Abraham Lincoln,” he added. “This new show will bring together the past, the present and the future of Disney storytelling.”

The show, D’Amaro explained, will take place inside Disney’s office at the Walt Disney Studios, giving park fans a glimpse into a space only available to a select few people who take the studio tour. An artists’ rendering shown during the presentation depicts Disney in his “work office” he also had a formal office for meetings with an in-progress map of Disneyland in the background, as it would have looked around 1965, when Haunted Mansion isn’t open yet. On the actual map in Disney’s real office, it says the attraction will have “1,001 ghosts,” because the in-development project hadn’t pinned down its “999 happy haunts” yet.

D’Amaro said that the animatronic is being developed with Roy P. Disney, Walt’s grand-nephew. “Creating our first Walt figure is a huge responsibility, and we’ve brought members of the Disney family along with us for every step of the journey,” D’Amaro added.

The show will alternate with Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln in the Main Street Opera House. It will debut in 2025, as Disneyland celebrates its 70th anniversary.
