The Disneyland Railroad remains out of commission while the grand circle tour undergoes a major refurbishment in preparation for the 70th anniversary celebration of the Anaheim theme park.
Disneyland is replacing a section of track, refreshing the stations along the route and giving the trains a little TLC while the 1955 opening day attraction remains closed.
Crews have been removing old rails and ties in the northeast corner of the park and installing new tracks during the two-month project that started in early August.
The Disneyland Railroad will remain closed at least through Nov. 21, according to the park’s website. Disneyland has not yet announced a reopening date for the attraction.
Forklifts, excavators, steamrollers and work crews have been seen along the train route from the Disneyland Monorail passing overhead.
Crews have been placing evenly-spaced new ties, attaching rails and pouring gravel along the route, according to WDW News Today.
One section of new track connects to the switch where trains are routed to the backstage roundhouse.
The Main Street U.S.A. station has been covered in scrims designed to look like the building’s facade during the refurbishment.
The engines and passenger cars have also been getting refurbished during the downtime, according to the Fresh Baked vlog.
