A figure of Jessica Rabbit has been pulled from part of the popular Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin attraction in Disneyland's Toontown. The change was first reported by Disneyland News Today.

The dark ride, based on the 1988 film "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," lets riders hop into taxi cabs for a swirling trip through the movie's main plot points. Both the ride and the elaborate queue feature Jessica Rabbit, the comically curvaceous love interest, several times.

The missing figure is from near the beginning of the ride. Jessica formerly appeared in the trunk of a car, tied up and swinging her bare legs. Disneyland News Today reports she has been replaced by barrels; she's still featured later in the ride, boinking a character over the head with a mallet.

It's unclear whether this change was made to fix a mechanical issue (Disney frequently pulls malfunctioning parts of rides until they can be rehabbed) or to rid the ride of a potentially sexualizing portrayal of a damsel in distress. A request for clarification from Disneyland on the motivation for the change was not immediately returned.

If this change is permanent, it would be in line with a number of alterations the park has made to attractions over the years. In 2017, Pirates of the Caribbean removed the scene where a "wench for a bride" auction was taking place, and earlier this year, huge portions of the Jungle Cruise attraction were changed to remove insensitive cultural depictions. In the future, Splash Mountain will be completely re-themed to remove its racist inspiration, "Song of the South."

"Who Framed Roger Rabbit" has always been a bit of an oddball in the Toontown universe. It's based on a book (for adults) called "Who Censored Roger Rabbit?" by Gary K. Wolf, and Roger Rabbit is murdered in the beginning of the novel. Although the movie mixes animation and live action, it feels decidedly more adult than the super toddler-friendly attractions that fill the rest of Toontown, like playhouses for Mickey and Minnie.

Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin underwent a number of smaller refurbishments earlier this year to brighten up the effects and fix a broken Roger Rabbit animatronic.
