The Main Street Electrical Parade, a night-time fan favorite that rolled along Disneyland's Main Street, U.S.A. for years, will return in 2017 with its synthesized version of "Baroque Hoedown."

A Disney official said its stay will be temporary but declined to put a time frame on the parade that features one-million-plus twinkling lights. He also declined to say if guests will be able to see the attraction each night.

"Those (answers) are still under discussion," John McClintock, a Disneyland spokesman, said Thursday. "The parade has always been a favorite, and it was time to come back."

The Main Street Electrical Parade debuted in 1972 and played on and off with different iterations for nearly four decades at Disneyland or Disney California Adventure. It was performed more than 4,200 in the Anaheim theme parks.

Most recently, the parade has been at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida, a run that ends Oct. 9.

Disney fans were abuzz on social media about the parade's return.

"It's the parade that just keeps glowing and glowing and glowing," enthused Matthew Gottula, 27, of Altadena.

"We just had the new (Paint the Night), now we get to reacquaint ourselves with an old friend," said Mariah Pacheco, 30, of Wilmington.

The older parade features an electromagnetic synthesized soundtrack while Disney floats and performers plastered with light bulbs move slowly along the route.

The announced return comes as Disneyland winds down its 60th anniversary celebration, which featured the modern version of the Main Street Electrical Parade, Paint the Night.

As previously announced, the much-hyped Paint the Night, along with other shows tied to the anniversary, will end its run on Sept. 5 even though guests often begin picking out spots to watch that parade and the fireworks show in the afternoon.
