Disneyland is introducing a new annual passport option for guests, aimed at giving visitors more flexibility in scheduling their visits.

Beginning May 21, the park's Disney Flex Passport will let passholders select between visiting Disneyland, California Adventure, or both parks on select "good-to-go" days.

The pass includes limited blackout days and allows holders to book reservations on select days for more access, the park says. Guests can make reservations up to 30 days in advance while still attending on "good-to-go" days.

The Disneyland mobile app can also be used to manage visits and reservations through the passport. Similar to other passport options, discounts on dining and merchandise are also included.

The Flex Passport starts at $599. This compares to the park's Disney Southern California Select Passport ($399), Disney Deluxe Passport ($799), Disney Signature Passport ($1,149), and Disney Signature Plus Passport ($1,399). Each tier includes its own set of benefits and park access.

The park is hoping more options in booking visits helps cut back on crowds as it opens its new "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" expansion in May. A Marvel-themed superhero land is also scheduled to open at California Adventure in 2020.

Officials are expecting increased crowds during the initial opening, leading to a reservation system for the expansion into June. Afterward, the area will open to the public without reservations.

Disneyland has also made several changes around the park to accommodate crowds this summer, adjusting walkway sizes and stroller policies.
