AFTER five years, 6700 construction works and a reported $1 billion dollars, Star Wars fans can now live out their very own fantasies in Disneyland Resort's newest attraction.

The 56,000-square metre Galaxy’s Edge, the world’s largest Star Wars attraction, officially opened at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, late last month, transporting guests to a new world, the planet of Batuu.

The highly-anticipated attraction, set over 14 acres, has been designed with meticulous attention to detail and is centred around a life-size Millennium Falcon, which, according to Disney, is the full-size, complete version of the spaceship that has ever been built.

Fans can enjoy the signature attraction, Smugglers’ Run, which uses cutting-edge special effects and combines immersive storytelling with interactive gameplay to make guests the protagonists of their own Star Wars adventures in a way never before undertaken by Disney Parks.

Phase two, opening later this year, will feature Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the most ambitious and immersive attraction ever imagined, which will place guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance and will blur the lines between fantasy and reality.

"For the first time, fans will be able to immerse themselves in the iconic stories that have captured audiences’ imaginations for decades and live their own Star Wars adventures in the most creative, innovative and ambitious land we’ve ever built," said Bob Iger, chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company.

Naturally, the merchandise inside the new attraction is a smash hit with Star Wars fanatics, with the most expensive piece at the park – a life-size R2-D2 droid - coming with a hefty $25,000 price tag.
