Disneyland To Offer Halloween Screams To All This Fall

The Disneyland Resort announced earlier this year that it would be moving its annual hard-ticket Halloween party back across the esplanade to Disney California Adventure this fall. But with the new Oogie Boogie Bash running over there, what would happen to the Halloween Screams fireworks show that used to play exclusively at Mickey's Halloween Party?

Well, Disney answered that question today. Rather than mothballing the show, Disneyland will be playing it for everyone this year. However, Disneyland will be following the precedent it established with Mickey's Mix Magic and performing the full show with fireworks only on select (usually weekend) evenings, with a projections-and-lights-only show running on other nights.

With Halloween Screams staying at Disneyland, fans who buy tickets to Oogie Boogie Bash will instead get exclusive showings of a Halloween-themed version of California Adventure's World of Color show, Villainous!. The new production introduces the character Shelley Marie, who imagines herself as various Disney characters as she picks a Halloween costume.

Oogie Boogie Bash runs Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday evenings from September 17 through October 31, with tickets ranging from $110 to $145 per person per night. In addition to Villainous!, the after-hours event will feature Disney-themed all-ages trick-or-treat trails, the Frightfully Fun Parade, and Mickey’s Trick and Treat show, as well as a villains take-over of Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.

For day guests at the two Disneyland Resort parks, the Halloween Time season starts on September 6, including the returns of Haunted Mansion Holiday at Disneyland and Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark, Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween, and A Musical Celebration of Coco at Disney California Adventure.

Update: Notice no mention of Space Mountain: Ghost Galaxy. Disneyland earlier announced that Hyperspace Mountain would be running "for a limited time," with no end date revealed. That there has been no announcement about Ghost Galaxy implies that Hyperspace Mountain's run will extend through the Halloween season. But will the Halloween overlay for Space Mountain return for 2020? We won't know until next summer, I suppose.
