This musical production brings the story of Snow White to the stage as it follows her from the Evil Queen's castle to the cottage of the seven dwarfs in the Enchanted Forest. Incorporating many of the favorite songs from the movie, like "Whistle While You Work" and "Heigh-Ho, Heigh-Ho", this show brings to life the classic scenes.Wonderfully detailed sets like the castle flanked by an imposing, gargoyle-topped castle tower for the Evil Queen to peer down from and the cottage help to recreate the look of the movie. There are a variety of special effects, including the animation of the Magic Mirror. The show opened to mixed reviews and was put on hiatus for 2005, returning for its last season in 2006. It's final performance was Labor Day weekend. A unique element of the production was the Magic Mirror, voiced by Patrick Stewart, acts as the narrator to our story of Snow White developed by Michael Curry who went on to design the puppets for "the Lion King" on Broadway the Magic Mirror's animated face was created from shifting fragments of specially lit, back-painted Lexan plastic
The audience only hears the Seven Dwarfs as they make their first appearance in Snow White An Enchanting Musical. They stream in from the back of the house as the classic song "Heigh-Ho, Heigh-Ho It's Off To Work We Go" fills the Fantasyland Theatre. Then, suddenly, they're dancing and singing in the aisles, marching through the crowd, and climbing on the stage where their exotic cottage sits. And their 30-foot-wide, 15-foot-tall cottage rotated to let audiences see inside.It's a thrilling moment, as the iconic characters from one of Disney's most beloved animated features spring to life.
Since 1937, when the groundbreaking cartoon debuted at the movies, the images of Snow White, the Wicked Queen, the Seven Dwarfs and, of course, the Magic Mirror have been indelibly etched in the collective consciousness. But that was just one of the hurdles the creative crew working on the stage show of Snow White had to clear in transforming the two-dimensional story into three dimensions.The audience seating area is covered by an enormous tensile structure that is comprised of a Teflon-coated material. The Fantasyland Theatre is a semi-outdoor venue, explains scenic designer Tom Butsch.
