January--Matt Ouimet leaves as Disneyland Resort President and joins Corinthian Colleges, Inc.
February 27--Dorothea Holt Redmond dies at 98. In 1964, she joined what is now known as Walt Disney Imagineering and helped envision elements of Disneyland and Disney World. Disney died in 1966 before the elaborate New Orleans Square hideaway she designed with him could be completed. For decades, the space was used as a gallery. Following Redmond's original renderings, the park recently restored the apartment above Pirates of the Caribbean and turned it into the Disneyland Dream Suite, where randomly chosen park visitors can stay overnight. Redmond also designed the interior and exterior settings of many restaurants and shops in New Orleans Square.

October 9--Ed Grier, the president of the Disneyland Resort, the first African American to oversee the theme park, announced his retirement. Ed Grier, 54, started his 28-year Disney career as a senior auditor. From 2004 to 2006, he was executive director of the Disney attractions in Tokyo. In 2006, he took over as head of the Anaheim operations.
October 12--George Kalogridis is named the new president of the Disneyland Resort. Kalogridis has been chief operating officer at Disneyland Paris for the past three years. Before that, he was vice president of travel operations at Disney World.
December 17--Roy E. Disney, the son of Roy O Disney and nephew of Walt Disney. He was 79. The Walt Disney Co. announced that Disney died in Newport Beach, Calif., after a bout with stomach cancer.
