Now that Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida has announced plans to open the FastPass lane on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run it begs the obvious question: When will Disneyland do the same thing?

Star Wars fans planning a trip to Batuu East on or after Feb. 19 can now make FastPass reservations to fly the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy through the My Disney Experience app used at Walt Disney World.

But what about Batuu West?

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run has been up and running in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge for nearly eight months and Disneyland has yet to use the FastPass line for the attraction.

At this time, Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland will continue operating with a standby queue only, Disney officials said.

The twin Smugglers Run flight simulators put riders in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon as they battle First Order TIE fighters during a mission to bring back a pile of loot for a vengeful space pirate. A 100-foot-long Millennium Falcon starship serves as the marquee centerpiece in the Black Spire Outpost village on the remote planet of Batuu, the setting for the Star Wars themed lands at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Smuggler’s Run debuted at Disneyland three months before the Orlando-area version of the ride. Disney’s Hollywood Studios opened Rise of the Resistance six weeks before the Anaheim version of the ride. The twin Rise of the Resistance rides have drawn big crowds at both Disney theme parks.

Those big crowds might explain why Disneyland is holding off on using the Smugglers Run FastPass lane just yet. Disney’s Florida operations team has had nearly two months to see how Rise of the Resistance impacts crowds in Galaxy’s Edge and on Smugglers Run. Disneyland has only had about a week to see what happens and make operational adjustments.

So, when will Disneyland open the Smugglers Run FastPass line? Disney’s Hollywood Studios will have waited nearly three months after the opening of Rise of the Resistance to open the Smugglers Run FastPass line. Using the Disney World park as a guide, that would be mid-April before Disneyland followed the same course. But only the Mouse knows for sure.

The Rise of the Resistance attractions in California and Florida also have FastPass lanes, but neither location is allowing visitors to make FastPass reservations for the trackless dark rides. Both coasts are employing a virtual queue system to manage lines for the popular new attractions. Disneyland visitors forced out of the Rise of the Resistance queue due to operational breakdowns have been issued FastPasses and allowed to return at a later time and use the shorter FastPass line to reenter the attraction.
