ADDITIONS:
*BEAR COUNTRY, built at a cost of $8 million, became the Park's seventh "theme" land. Inspired by the great outdoors, Bear Country is a light-hearted re-creation of the Great Northwest. Seven new attractions, merchandise and food outlets included:
"COUNTRY BEAR JAMBOREE" (a fast-paced musical laced with comedy and catchy tunes featuring 18 lifelike bears, a talking moose, buffalo, stag and raccoon)
"DAVY CROCKETT'S EXPLORER CANOES" (Ply the adventuresome Rivers of America aboard 35-foot-long "birch bark" canoes)
"HUNGRY BEAR RESTAURANT" (Fast-food facility)
"MILE LONG BAR" (Snacks and carbonated thirst quenchers)
"URSUS H. BEAR'S WILDERNESS OUTPOST" (Souvenirs and gifts)
"INDIAN TRADING POST" (Unusual authentic American-Indian gifts)
"TEDDI BARRA'S SWINGING ARCADE" (Games embellished with a distinctive backwoods flavor))

HIGHLIGHTS:
A record 27,000 celebrants attended the annual New Year's Eve Party.
"Small World Days," a completely new event, saluted the nations of the world during a special two-day festival in January.
Emily Zinser toured internationally in her role as Disneyland's 1972 Ambassador to the World.
Count Basie, Lionel Hampton, Charlie Barnett and Buddy Morrow provided the impetus for May's two-day Big Band Festival. More than 500 schools were represented during Grad Nite parties, with over 92,000 participants.
Summer brought an entirely new entertainment feature to Disneyland with the premiere of the "Electrical Parade," in which scenes from many of Walt Disney's film classics were re-created by the use of over 500,000 tiny, colored lights.
Disneyland took on a nostalgic air with "Rock and Roll Reunion" in September featuring Frankie Avalon, Chuck Berry, The Drifters and The Platters.
One of Disneyland's famous residents, Winnie the Pooh, jumped into the Presidential race with a whistle-stop tour down the California coast and three special "Winnie the Pooh for President Days" at the Park during October.
Top-name entertainment and parades were showcased during the Park's annual celebrations for Valentine's Day, Star-Spangled Holidays, Spring Fling, Cinderella Festival, Viva Mexico Days, and Country Music Spectacular.
Christmas brought a new version of "Fantasy on Parade" and a revival of the popular television show, "The Mickey Mouse Club," which were presented daily during the holiday season.
Disneyland's Community Service Awards program honored 31 county organizations with cash awards totaling $37,500. The Outstanding Award was won by the Mothers' Auxiliary of the Tustin Boys' Club.
