February 10--Bill Justice, a former Walt Disney Studios animator who worked on classics such as 'Fantasia,' 'Bambi' and 'Alice in Wonderland' and later joined Walt Disney Imagineering where he helped program Audio-Animatronics figures for attractions at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, died of natural causes, a day after he turned 97.
March--Kim Irvine, Disneyland Art Director , honored with a lifetime achievement award from the Themed Entertainment Association. Irvine's mother is the model for Madame Leota in the Haunted Mansion. Irvine's face and voice appears as Madame Leota in the Haunted Mansion Holiday make over. Irvine led major projects to decorate Sleeping Beauty Castle in 2005 for the 50th anniversary, design the Disney Dream Suite in 2008, add Disney characters to the 'it's small world” ride in 2009 and update scenes along Rivers of America last year.
April 2--Collin Campbell , a former Walt Disney Imagineer passed away . Campbell's distinctive paintings of the Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Haunted Mansion were an intrinsic part of the conceptualization and design of those Disney attractions. He may be best known for his illustrations for the 'Haunted Mansion' story-and-song record album, which featured the voice of a young Ron Howard and introduced legions of youngsters to the mystery of Disneyland's new Haunted Mansion attraction back in 1969
June 3--Wally Boag, who played Pecos Bill in nearly 40,000 live performances of the Golden Horseshoe Revue at Disneyland and was the voice of Jose in The Enchanted Tiki Room., passed away. He was 90. He was a resident of Santa Monica, Calif.
June 4--Betty Taylor, who played Slue Foot Sue in Disney's long-running Golden Horseshoe Revue, passed away. Wally Boag, played her character's sweetheart, Pecos Bill. Betty's role as leading lady in Disneyland's Golden Horseshoe Revue helped turn it into the longest-running stage show in entertainment history. The 91-year-old Taylor died at her home in Washington state.
